Occupational Rehabilitation

Stichting De Waterheuvel is a foundation in Amsterdam, which is involved in work rehabilitation and day care for people with a psychiatric background. The foundation provides work training, courses, work experience placements, various activities and the ability to build social contacts. De Waterheuvel differs from other activity centres, because all members participate in the clubhouse, at their own level and pace.

Modernization

Interim Director Wander Reitsma: "Our entire network needed modernization. Most visitors have little computer experience and this led to high maintenance. We were looking for a faster and more stable network with the same functionality, but with lower monthly costs."

One powerful server

Contant IT created a new network based on a powerful Microsoft Terminal server and 35 thin clients. These are relatively small computers that function as a part of the central server. The server processed the power and storage space and manages the applications and user accounts. The management at the user side is minimalized, and can almost completely be done remotely. An additional advantage is that with a few modifications the system can be expanded and the users are not limited to a fixed workstation. Wander Reitsma: "With the new network our monthly maintenance costs are down by 35%. This saves our organisation thousands of euros per year."
